The Solving for X  Workshop - Music Industry Edition

Is "networking" a dirty word for you?

Ever wonder why some people meet their professional goals three years before the end of their 5-year plan?

Do you find that when you're in a room with people you don't know you just want to sit in the corner?

If you've answered yes to any of these questions, this workshop will change your entire view of networking.

Unlike other workshops that focus on such superficial elements as eye contact and handshakes, Solving for X is an action-reflection based course that allows you to break down your own barriers.

Through a five-step experiential process, you will discover the unconscious choices and habits that create blind spots in professional conversations as well as why it can be hard to make connections and, ultimately, what you can do in every interaction to maximize your opportunities.

You'll learn tips on connecting in one-on-one situations, in small groups, and in a room full of people. Most importantly, at the end of this workshop you will have a better sense of what your personal challenges are and how to overcome them.  This class provides a lot of individual attention and will help you sort through Your networking problems. Seating is limited to 30 participants

In addition to the course, you will also get absolutely free access to a panel of music experts who will answer your networking questions.

After the panel, you will have time to practice the tools you have learned throughout the day with the panelists as well as the other particpants. And there will be free food!

Panelists confirmed so far are:

Dan Lieberstein, Music Supervisor (Sex and the City, Nurse Jackie, and Life is Wild)

Mark Palermo, Director of Special Projects at ASCAP

Valerie Gurka, Director of Special Events at The Knitting Factory

Corey H. Maass, Founder of Noteworking (An NYC-based meetup for musicians and music industry professionals using digital tools for promotion, marketing, sales, and collaboration)

Shamita Carriman, Founder and Managing Partner of Carriman Law Group PLLC (NYC Entertainment, Intellectual property, and Small Business Law Firm)

More will be added as we continue!

This workshop will help you realize that the network you make for yourself can make all the difference in having a successful music career. Take the first step in building a network of people to support you as you work toward your goals.

Seating is limited, so sign up for your spot today!

The workshop will be held Sunday March 6th from 1pm- 7pm . The Location will be Pearl Studios, 500 8th Ave, 4th Floor, Studio 404

Schedule:

1pm-4pm Workshop, 4pm-4:30pm break, 4:30pm-5:30pm Panel, 5:30pm-7:00pm meet and greet

See below for what others had to say about the seminar.

"It was a fun group of people and a very enjoyable morning.  I also appreciated the simplicity of the workshop and enjoyed the exercises. The specificity with how to find ways to help others was great too... especially at parties... I got to go to one that afternoon and attempt to try stuff out."- Kristin Stewart Chase- Actress

"It was refreshing to be with so many people with great goals and aspirations.  I thought you had some great points and I definitely feel it was a good investment for me. "- Megan Hartig -actress

"I really liked the exercises with people and the review/reflection of how we did. That really helped me gained some perspective on how I was networking." - Orion Delwaterman- actor

"That was a great workshop/ Thank you! I think you covered some great topics, offered a lot of helpful suggestions, and gave me some solid structure for how I can better network. One of the best activities was actually the first one, where we interviewed our neighbors and then introduced them. I think that said a lot about where I was with respect to listening, and not making it about me. I also appreciated the fact that the information you offered did indeed cross all disciplines."- Ted Kusio- Tech entrepreneur

"I found that the way you presented the workshop was a very effective combination of lecture/discussion and practical application, and the amount of information presented in the time frame was just right, without feeling either slow or overwhelming. "- Alex Mallory -Director

"All in all - the class was very successful for me. It gave me a first hand look at my comfort and non-comfort zones.   I'd recommend the class to others for sure." - Jennifer Conley Darling- Producer

"Thanks so much for an effective workshop! I gained some special nuggets of information which will certainly come in handy. Right after the workshop I had a shmoozy holiday party to attend and I felt super comfortable. Thank you, thank you!"- Christine Miller- Yoga Instructor

"Michael's Solving For X Workshop was a well-designed and safe exercise in networking. He gave us helpful hints, then we immediately put them to practice - it was a great way to look for "open doors" and meet new friends in the industry."- Lilli Wosk- Musical Director and Vocal Coach

"Your workshop continues to resonate with me. The ideas that you planted in my head have motivated me to be more "in touch" with people in the industry. I loved that you reminded me that all people are just people; even those big scary people who seem to have all the power. I loved that you reminded me to connect to people as people; this is something I often forget when connecting with casting directors and talent agents. I loved that you promoted the idea that I do have something to offer and that the best way to approach any other person is with this in mind. It is incredibly empowering to start to see myself this way. "- Lily Balsen - actress

"I found it very effective that not only was there a visual breakdown of the topics we would be covering, but we actually got to get onto our feet and put them into practice. It was never a preachy, talkie workshop, and Everyone got to participate."- Amanda Marino- Actress
