What is the Level 1 Olympic Weightlifting Coach Certification?

The Level 1 Weightlifting Certification is a 2 day course providing approximately 50% practical, 50% theoretical instruction in the sport of Weightlifting. This course is the foundation of the Weightlifting Coach Certification model. No prior experience in the sport of Weightlifting is required.  Learn how to properly perform, instruct, and coach the snatch, clean and jerk, and related assistance exercises from one of Canada's top Coaches, Coach Daniel Robitaille and his assistant Pierre Augé.

Learn to train and instruct the execution of the lifts safely, Learn aspects of program design, Learn the rules of competitive Weightlifing, and learn to participate in Weightlifting competition.

This course is hosted at CrossFit Mobile's world class Weightlifting, and Strength and Conditioning facility in Ottawa, Ontario.

Space is limited to 12 participants.

Cost: $300

We will be hosting this certification on September 13 and 14th 2008.

What is the NCCP?

The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) is a coach training and certification program for 65 different sports and is offered in both official languages across Canada. NCCP workshops are designed to meet the needs of all types of coaches, from the first-time coach to the head coach of a national team. The NCCP is the recognized national standard for coach training and certification in Canada.

A little bit about Daniel Robitaille

(A) As an Athlete

1972 - Provincial Champion and Junior National Champion. (148lb class)
1973 - Provincial and National Junior Champion (148lb class)
1975 - Canada Games - Gold medal (165 middleweight class)
1975 - Pan American Games (Mexico) Triple bronze medalist.
1975 - Member of 4 man team that wins the Gold medal at the summer Los Angeles Summer invitational.
1977 - Canadian men’s Champion
1977 - Gold Medal in the Clean and Jerk (European open) Cardiff Wales.
1978 - Canadian men’s Champion and Record Holder.

(B) As a Coach

1977-1999 Coach of the Elite Weightlifting club in Elliot Lake, Ontario.
1981-1982 Appointed Coach at the Junior World Championships
1982 - Appointed Coach at the Pan American Championships
1991 - Coach Canada Winter Games
1992 - Coach WORLD CHAMPIOSHIPS (MENS AND WOMENS NATIONAL TEAM)
1993 - Head Coach Junior World Champioships Czech republic.
1993 - 1994 - Ran training camps in Colorado springs for mens and womans National team program. Appointed Junior National Team Program Leader
1995 - Head Coach PAN AMERICAN GAMES (ARGENTINA) Manager and coach at the Canada winter games
1996 - Appointed Manager and Head Coach at the Central American Invitational (GUATEMALA)
1999 - Coach World Championships Athens Greece.

The OSDC is a not for profit training organization providing athletes and the general public access to high performance athletic training and superior general fitness programs. The OSDC is home to the Gas Hut - Olympic Weightlifting Club, Ottawa Track West and CrossFit Ottawa. The OSDC hosts coaching certification seminars in a variety of athletic fields, ranging from general fitness, Olympic weightlifting and track and field.
