Older and Reckless is back with more outstanding dance!

Celebrating great dance created by some of Canada’s most acclaimed contemporary and ever-reckless dance artists, the March Older and Reckless will feature works performed by stellar females

Carol Anderson, Sarah Bild with Susanna Hood, Keiko Kitano, Naoko Murakoshi and Phyllis Whyte.

For this Older and Reckless, curator Claudia Moore has invited renowned choreographers and performers to the Dancemakers Centre for Creation on March 12 and 13, 2011 for a weekend of dance. Extraordinary performer/choreographer, Carol Anderson, former Artistic Director of Dancemakerswill celebrate her 60th birthday with a new solo, Messages, to an original score by Canadian music master Kirk Elliot. Moore is thrilled that Phyllis Whyte is remounting two solo works by the late Murray DarrochDanvers and Grey Lipstick.

The Older and Reckless performances will include a powerful duet, The Frying Pan’s Too Wide, by Toronto native Susanna Hood and Montreal’s Sarah Bild. Each performance of this duet is a first-time encounter; it is a space that Sarah and Susanna enter to meet both themselves and each other.

Keiko Kitano is collaborating with 3 artists, including her husband, media designer, Rick Thomson, on a new solo. Apoptosi, choreographed and performed by Kitano, examines a Japanese cultural phenomena- the high suicide rate in Japanese society.  Moore is also honoured to have the giftedNaoko Murakoshi from Japan perform a new solo in Older and Reckless.

Older & Reckless Workshop for All – Salsa with Miko Sobreira will give the fundamentals of salsa. Miko will get the beginners loose and pump up the fun for all experience levels on Saturday March 12, 5pm-6pm.
