WIMBA - Live Space Meeting
SNEAK PREVIEW
The Idaho Commission for Libraries is providing the opportunity for all Idaho public libraries (including all branches) to participate in a sneak preview of the new ICFL and WebJunction Idaho websites by using online technology. Wimba is an online meeting space that ICFL uses to connect librarians throughout Idaho. This tool will allow library staff to enhance their ability to communicate with other Idaho librarians, educate themselves, and assist their patrons in using evolving technology. Six one-hour sessions will be provided in September for staff from Idaho public libraries to get a sneak preview of the two new websites and experience Wimba. You may attend more than once, if desired.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the online training sessions participants will
· Have a working knowledge of the Wimba online environment.
· Be able to navigate through the new ICFL 2.0 website.
· Know how to access the online courses through WebJunction Idaho
Outcomes:
· Idaho library staff will use online technology to participate in continuing education.
· Idaho library staff will contribute to planning and setting direction for statewide library programs through virtual meeting spaces.
· Idaho library staff will use social networking as a means of connecting with others.
Once registered, you will receive an email which links to the Wimba Wizard. Please run the Wizard early in the week before the workshop to make sure you can access the meeting room. The only special hardware needed will be a headphone microphone. If your library is not previously equipped with this tool, please check the box in the registration form and ICFL will send you the appropriate headset.
