From July 22 to October 11, 2008, The Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco will be holding an exhibition of "Chinese Puzzles: Games for the Hands and Mind". Visitors will see 150 of China's once popular yizhi youxi (intelligence games) and learn about their histories.
In addition to the exhibition, the Chinese Culture Center will be offering hands-on workshops to school groups and summer/fall programs. In these 1-1/2 to 2-hour sessions, students will learn about traditional Chinese puzzles by playing with and solving them. The puzzles will include tangrams, nine linked rings and sliding block puzzles. Students will also have a chance to make puzzles of their own to take home and share with family and friends.
