Three Workshops for a Show

Three Belly Dance Choreography Workshops for you. These are the student group dances for the March 26/27 studio show, so if you are interested in performing, this is your last chance to learn one or more of these dances, or just learn a dance in a day! For a special refresher rate for those that learned the dance in a six week course but want to brush up their knowledge, please talk to your instructor.

Note: You do not have to participate in the show in order to take these workshops - but you could.

Not for novices: All of our one-day workshops are designed for beginner level students, but not for complete newbies. Yes, you can be a beginner, but this should not be your very first belly dance experience. Because of the time constraint, please understand that there is no time to completely break down and practice at length all of the technique required for each choreography. These workshops are designed to give students, who know some basic belly dance moves, an overview of the technique, and then teach the complete choreography. Choreography notes will be provided to each student. You will need to practice at home in order to put the choreography into your long term memory.

Here the information about the studio show on March 26/27th.

The dances that you can learn in the February Workshops are:

1) Abgal Alena - Mixed Level Skirt Dance

Abgal Alena is a fun and fab Gypsy Nouveau choreography by Schadia. One of Schadia & Nazeem Allayl's signature styles, Gypsy Nouveau is influenced by Roma/Gypsy dance moves, cabaret style bellydance, and just generally being way too fabulous and yet folksy at the same time. This dance is fast paced, high energy, and lots of fun to perform.

2) Upgrade U

Upgrade U is one of our newest beginner level fusion belly dance choreographies. If you haven't heard the song Upgrade U by Beyonce, it's a hot song about letting a man know how we can improve his life. You know that's right! With a lot of ATL style swagger, belly dance femininity and power, and hip-hop pop and locks, this brand new choreography is a blast to
learn and perform. You can't miss this one ladies, because you know you want to dance to one of Beyonce's funnest & sassiest songs.

3) Jasmine

Jasmine is our beginner level finger cymbal dance. It was originally choreographed by arguably the most famous Middle Eastern dance choreographer of the late twentieth century, Ibrahim Farrah.

This choreography incorporates both Lebanese folk & cabaret styles, which
makes it exciting & innovative while still being true to "old school" belly dance. This dance has a sweetness and an innocence that a lot of the newer
fusion style dance styles do not. If you are looking for more traditional belly dance, this is a wonderful choreography to learn. And, best of all, Jasmine gives you the opportunity to smoothly incorporate playing finger
cymbals into a choreography.

Workshop Requirements: Workshop Requirements: Women only, 16 years & up. We do not offer daycare
and do not allow observers. Please do not bring anyone, including children below the age of 16 and/or any men to the studio during these workshop times.

Health Note: Workshops are intense & require lots of energy and stamina. If you have any questions about your health or your ability to participate in such a workshop, please consult your physician & follow her/his advice. If you or your doctor feel that you would be physically unable to dance for 1 hours and/or would endanger your health by doing so, do not take this or any other workshop. We are dancing to have fun & learn and definitely not to put anyone's health or well-being in jeopardy!

Please print out the directions and take them with you, as the GPS only gets you close.
