Description of the Group:

In this peer-discussion affinity group, volunteer managers gather together to discuss topics that are important in strategizing and developing their programs.  Throughout 2010, over 70 volunteer managers gathered together to join in facilitated discussions regarding Disaster Preparedness, Social Media, Recruiting “Boomer” Volunteers, Dealing with Stress, and Managing Special Event Volunteers. 

For 2011, the Center is working to make this group even more collaborative.  A group of volunteer managers gathered together in January and determined a set of discussion topics for the upcoming year.

The affinity group meets the 3rd Thursday of each month, from 10:00-11:30am.  The first hour of each meeting is devoted to that month's topic and the remaining half-hour is left open for general discussion, networking, and program development.

Each meeting is facilitated by a peer-facilitator.  If you are interested in sharing your knowledge and facilitating at an upcoming meeting, please contact Sarah Van Dine directly at svandine@cvnl.org

This discussion will focus on what do to when a volunteer ends their service at your organization, and to what capacity can you legally use volunteers to assist your nonprofit.
