This course is designed to give you the full compliment of Microsoft Excel skills to use existing spreadsheet files and create new files using formulas and functions, using Excel to manage a database, creating graphs and charts and customising how the spreadsheet looks on the screen as well as when you print it. Includes 12 months access to the online Microsoft Excel training course.

Topics include:

Print & page break preview options, changing break positions, orientation, scaling, inserting & deleting page breaks, margins, normal, preset and custom headers and footers, set and clear print area, page printing order, showing titles and gridlines when printing, keep headings on the screen, printing multiple sheets. 

Charting, chart types, data source, chart titles, axis labels, legend, data tables, pie charts, chart wizard, editing charts specifications after it is created, plot area, category and value axis, formatting a chart, have several different types of chart in one, charting multiple ranges, getting a chart into Word, Linking a chart in Word. 

Formulas and functions, using percentage, Functions including average, sum, maximum, minimum and looking at more functions and the syntax of functions, copy formulas & functions & understanding relative & absolute cell references, inserting, viewing and editing comments. Hiding and un-hiding columns and rows.

We'll also take a look at some excellent uses for Excel, including:

How data is stored, field and record delimiters, header records and flatfile data, sorting and filtering using AutoFilter and Advanced filter methods (using AND and OR) and wildcard searches, combining data from several cells, finding data, using find and replace (across several sheets), using the text import wizard, looking at Excel data in Word and visa versa, creating drop down lists for consistent data entry using data validation.

Clean up a data file to remove unwanted (or blank records), create a pivottable using an excel file, field lists, data items area, the pivot table toolbar, drop page fields in different zones on the pivot table and notice the way information is presented changes, create pivottable charts based on the pivot table.

Includes topics 304, 305, 306 and parts of 307 and 308.
