Life cycle thinking Masterclass for Professionals

9 May 2011 - Melbourne

Life Cycle Map

Life cycle thinking is the best practice way of understanding the world behind the product so that environmentally preferable solutions can be built into the design and development.

It is becoming increasingly important for companies to demonstrate strong environmental credentials. The majority of a products environmental impacts are decided upon during the design and development stages. By employing a rigours approach to indentifying the environmental ‘hot spots’ across the life of a product, solutions can be designed in, creating cost effective and sustainable products.

The Life Cycle Thinking Masterclass is a high level training course for designers, engineers, managers and product developers presented by two leading experts in environmental product development. Tim Grant from Life Cycle Strategies is one of Australia’s leading life cycle assessment (LCA) professionals with over fifteen years experience in assessing environmental impacts of products. Leyla Acaroglu, director of Eco Innovators is a leading eco design advisor who brings a wealth of knowledge of innovative and economically viable approaches to integrating environmental considerations into the product development process.

The masterclass will provide participants with an advanced level of understanding on life cycle thinking, build capacity in identifying environmental impact areas and introduce design solutions to address these. The full day course will explore how to identify the most appropriate tools and resources to draw on in the product development process.  Having identified these participants will look at when to internalise these and when specialist input is required.

Participants will also examine how to communicate powerful environmental messages without greenwashing. This course is a must for professionals wanting to advance their capacity to advance in an environmentally concerned marketplace.

Who should attend? Designers, product developers, managers, educators, marketing professionals and business managers.
