Fundamentals of Electronics

An foundational introduction to electronics for the uninitiated.  This class is the first in a series of classes over the next several months intended to provide a skill base for participation in this fall's Clothesline Races.

Topics will include, but not necessarily be limited to:

• Understanding work, energy, and power
• How current and voltage interact to deliver energy to do work
• A brief introduction to practical power supplies for simple projects
• Ohm's law, resistance, and happy little electron men
• Switches and buttons
• Diodes and light emitting diodes
• Using a multimeter

Each class will be approximately 1.5 hours in length, with a Q&A session afterwards.  The second class will include some hands-on lab work. Class starts at 7:00 both days, and ends at 8:30 (Eventbrite doesn't seem to cope well with multi-day events that are piecemeal).

The three types tickets available are for people who want the complete parts kit, people who want only the parts with no storage box or tools, and people who do not want to purchase any supplies.  It is recommended that you purchase the kit, to be able to follow along with this class and future classes.  The complete kit is $39; parts only is $15.  Both are payable to the instructor at or before the first class.

The class is limited to five participants; if a great deal of interest is shown a second session may be added.
