What an opportunity to experience 2 unique spaces in 1 evening. Marq VII and Basil's; both located in the beautiful Marquette Hotel.
Marq VII is one of my favorite lounges. With floor to ceiling windows it is the best people watching happy hour in downtown Minneapolis. The interior is sophisticated and serene and the furniture cozy.
Basil's. Have you ever walked through the IDS Crystal Court, looked up and noticed a fabulous indoor patio off the 3rd floor? This pleasant patio is only one of the unique things I discovered at Basil's. An absolutely gorgeous remodel created a chic and comfortable environment. The layout affords undisturbed business meetings and romantic evenings.
Chef, Mark Stankey, has interjected a lot of excitement in the new menu. His duck confit and foie gras terrine shows he has range and real skill. Even a simple sandwich is extraordinary (try the chevre, pickled onion, shitake version). Miso glazed salmon, braised pork shoulder, seaweed wrapped tuna, and phyllo-fried oysters are all food icons, and all these dishes are cooked with great care and spot on seasoning.
