Event Details

Grassroots filmmaking is becoming increasingly significant to Chinese and Chinese American communities as many up and coming social movements are being spearheaded, explored, and grounded through this medium. Acknowledging the growing importance of the grassroots genre, the June 7th launching of 2008’s Chinese Culture Center Cinema program showcases two unique independent short films, Red Thread, and Have Food Will Travel.

After the debut screenings of Red Thread and Have Food Will Travel, the Culture Center will be hosting a panel discussion of the films. Panel members include filmmakers Jim Choi and Leonard Shek, Chinese Culture Center Program Director Abby Chen, and Center for Asian American Media Program Director Donald Young
