Over the past four years, the MMBC has reached well beyond its physical confines to create audiences and opportunities that both enrich the organization and the many communities it serves. A number of initiatives have proven to be both successful and worthy of emulation by others. Two virtual exhibits - Graveyard of the Pacific, Beyond the Map, the Museum Without Walls traveling public program, the much anticipated Maritime Mosaic at the Victoria Tall Ships Festival and a new endeavor to license the incredibly successful Pirate School for use by maritime museums in the USA, have incorporated proven museum educational techniques, creativity and marketing strategies.
