"The Governance Dimension of the MDGs
in Africa"
The United Nations University in collaboration with Cornell University is organizing the second symposium of the UNU-Cornell Africa Series, entitled The Governance Dimension of the MDGs in Africa. This second symposium is co-organized with UNU Research and Training Programme on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS), UNU Office at the UN in New York (UNU-ONY), Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies and Institute for African Development at Cornell University.

The symposium will be held on May 21, 2008 from 9:15am - 6:00pm, in the Dag Hammarskjöld Library Penthouse, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The event will be video recorded and/or webcast.
The second symposium of the Africa Series will focus on the governance dimension. The Millennium Declaration recognizes governance as critical for achieving the Millennium Development Goals. The symposium will contribute to policy analysis of governance and development by not only undertaking a diagnostic study of the state of governance but evaluating the effectiveness of efforts aimed at ensuring good governance.
