The Council Rock School District has been using systematic benchmarking to improve various non-instructional services and reduce cost.  The most extensive benchmarking has been done in the area of energy management where energy use has been reduced by over 35% in two years.  The federal Energy Star system has been used to provide both best practice research and comparative data to assist in program implementation and prioritization.  Other support services benefiting from benchmarking include copying and printing services, information technology support services, and contracted transportation services.  Benchmarking has also been used to improve administration of the special education instructional services. 

Our guest speakers are:

• Robert Schoch, Director of Business Administration and founding member of the Benchmarking Committee of the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials, and was part of the team at the first school disctrict to implement ISO 9001.
• Matt Frederickson, Director of Information Technology, who has been with the school district for four years and has varied experiences in the private sector and the US military.

Both are from the Council Rock school district, Newtown, Bucks County, PA.
