TOPIC: Immaculate Heart Radio
KIHM, named for the Immaculate Heart of Mary, began broadcasting in Reno on January 2, 1997. At that time, KIHM was only the 7th full-time Catholic radio station in the country, as compared to over 1,600 Protestant stations and 15,000 secular stations. As of today, there are approximately 150 Catholic stations nationwide.
Chris Lyford is the Director of Community Relations for Immaculate Heart Radio. He will tell us the story of Catholic Radio - its history, mission, purpose and programming, as well as the challenges we face as a church to use the power of electronic media to spread the Good News.
Chris has been a lay minister in the Catholic Church for 26 years. his specialties are Evangelization, Catechesis, and Music Ministry.
