13th Annual Utah State Instrument Championships

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 3-5, 2011

In Conjunction with the annual Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music Folk and Bluegrass Festival, the 13th annual Utah State Instrument Championships will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 3rd, 4th and 5th, 2011. There are nine contests, with five “Open” divisions and four “Novice” divisions, featuring Flatpick Guitar, Fingerstyle Guitar, Bluegrass Fiddle, Banjo, and Mandolin. This year the contests will be held on the main stage at the OFOAM (Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music) Bluegrass and Acoustic Music Festival and will begin promptly at 5:00 PM on Friday the 3rd and 8:30 AM on both Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th. Contest details, including division order and start times are listed below but may be subject to change.

The combined total of contestants for each instrument contest will be limited to the first 20 paid contestants. The Novice category has no age restriction, however this is intended for beginners to intermediate players with only a few years experience. Likewise the Open Category is open to all ages. These contests are registered with the State of Utah and are sanctioned by the Walnut Valley Association, Winfield Kansas, which hosts the National Championships in Bluegrass 

To enter please submit a non-refundable entry fee of $20.00 for the Open Division and $15.00 for the Novice Division contests. Online above or download a printable pdf form from the IAMA website: www.iamaweb.org and mail to the address below. (make check or money order payable to: IAMA) via US Mail, postmarked no later than May 27, 2011. Registration will be available onsite at the festival but is conditional on registration pre-sales and may not be available in all divisions.

PLEASE NOTE: Your Registration Fees for the Utah State Instrument Championships (USIC) Do Not include admission to the OFOAM Bluegrass and Acoustic Music Festival. A Weekend Pass for the festival can be purchased at reduced price for registered participants in the contest. Regular Price $45.00, Discounted Price $22.00.
