CalSPRA Issues in Education Fall Conference 2008

November 5-7, 2008

Hilton San Francisco Financial District

This conference is filled with practical solutions to challenges we all face in school PR:

·         Adapting to the needs and expectations of parents and staff that range from baby boomer to “new millennials”

·         Preparing staff (and ourselves) for emerging legal issues in technology

·         Shifting from communicating to a place (the home) to communicating with people – wherever and whenever they want to pay attention

A special session has been reserved for strategic planning for the 2009 NSPRA Seminar in San Francisco.

Session will focus on proven strategies used to communicate with millenials.

Option 2: Communications Accountability Project
Tom DeLapp, President, Communication Resources for Schools

Learn about research conducted by NSPRA that shows how communication is the “x” factor in leadership and learning.

1:15 – 2:45 p.m. Keynote – “Communicating with Parents, Building Successful Partnerships for Family Involvement”

This session will cover how to facilitate discussion, create an action team and policy to follow, and then build systematic plans to encourage parents to get involved.

Learn what steps and processes need to be in place in order to run a successful campaign that incorporates school districts, parents, and the community.

This session covers the A-Z of social network sites including the costs, benefits, and pitfalls of using communications technology in a school PR setting.  Participants will receive useful resource materials.

Option 2: Supporting your print newsletter with new e-mail tools
1st Hour Communication

The Web and e-mail newsletters might be all the rage but you know that a significant portion of your audience still prefers traditional methods like print newsletters to receive information.  Learn the data behind balancing both types of publications and meeting the information needs of your entire community.
