Prima Festa will conduct a hands-on Pizzelle Cookie, Cannoli and Dessert Crepes Making Class on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Social Room of the First United Methodist church located at 64 W. Chocolate Ave. in Hershey, PA.

Pizzelles are light wafer cookies made from a simple batter flavored with anise, chocolate, orange, lemon, almond, and other flavors. The batter is cooked on a special Pizzelle iron that embosses the cookies with decorative patterns such as flowers and stars. In Central Italy, where the Pizzelle originated, families would choose their own distinctive patterns and pass them down from generation to generation.

Cannoli, one of the most popular Italian desserts, are baked pastry shells filled with a sweetened cheese mixed with either chocolate or butterscotch chips, candied fruit and/or various nuts.

Crepes are traditional Italian specialties that are used for a wide range of dishes. Desserts crepes are served chilled and filled with a mixture of sweetened ricotta cheese and various flavored fillings. 

Instruction will be provided by Prima Festa instructors who have been baking these time-honored Italian favorites for many years. Participants will learn to make vaious batter flavors and make their own take-home Pizzelles and Cannoli. The $39.00 registration fee includes instruction, printed recipes and take-home samples. Take out containers will be provided.

Tickets to the event are transferable as long as Prima Festa is provided with the new contact information prior to the event. Unless it is an emergency, refunds will not be given within 30 days prior to the scheduled event. Prima Festa has the right to give credits toward other events in lieu of refunds.
