Event Details

A sequel to Mikhalkov’s Oscar-winning Burnt by the Sun (1994), the epic re-visits officer Kotov, who, having survived the death sentence in Stalin’s Purge, is fighting in the front lines of World War II . His daughter, Nadia, has enlisted as a nurse, risking her life and saving others. The film depicts a war torn nation where former enemies have joined forces to defend their land. People have united in the name of victory, but at what cost? Lives are eradicated by the Nazis: burned villages, raped women, wiped out towns, bombed schools and churches. In hopes of survival, Kotov and his daughter envision each other, but their hopes and dreams are interrupted by a massive bombardment. The chances of survival are next to impossible.
