On December 1st 2010 Net Impact Professional will address the Government's call for a low-carbon growth as an essential path out of recession. We will hear from three leaders in sustainability whose work demonstrates that the transition towards a sustainable economy is not only underway but bringing win-win-win scenarios for those government departments, corporations and NGOs willing to embrace them.

Chris Huhne, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change recently argued that the need to urgently renew and decarbonise our energy supply, and to upgrade our ageing and inefficient buildings will not only provide an economic boost, but also help to create a more balanced, resilient and sustainable British economy. Our panel of speakers share how they are already contributing to the UK green economy and how you can do the same. Click here to hear Chris Huhne's speech visit at the LSE.

David Collins inspires business leaders to place sustainability as a value that drives the behaviour and actions of their organisations. At a policy level, David developed a sustainability approach for the £5bn UK cement and concrete sector. It won the CBI 2010 Environmental Initiative Award. David founded Future Conversations and works on engaging people in sustainability at all levels within organisations. He’ll share stories of clients engaging with sustainability on their own terms.

Kirsty Schneeberger has attended the UN climate change negotiations as a UK Youth Delegate since 2008 calling on Governments to put the principle of Intergenerational Equity and sustainable development at the heart of their decision-making,asking the poignant question: How old will you be in 2050? She now works with the Department of Energy and Climate Change to establish the Youth Advisory Panel, which brings the voice of young people to the table of policy-makers and Ministers. Her work as a coordinator of the UK Youth Climate Coalition and involving young people in the environmental political decision-making process has recently led to her being Honoured as an MBE for Services to Environmental Conservation.

Luke Nicholson is Director at More Associates where he designs commercial and policy strategies that help everyday people to effectively address climate change. He advises government, corporations and NGOs on putting resource efficiency and sustainable profitability at the heart of what they do by identifying opportunities to align business objectives with social and environmental outcomes and deliver innovation to address those opportunities. This goes beyond compliance and risk-management, turning necessary cost into competitive advantage.
