The Chinese Culture Center annually offers four sessions of Mandarin classes for adults and for children. The Adult Mandarin Class teaching style is interactive with an emphasis on spoken language for practical use, and some character learning. Students participate in simple conversations and respond to visual tools for vocabulary building. Adult classes emphasize conversational Mandarin basics, Chinese cultural practices, and some essential characters. Beginner Adult Mandarin Class - For absolute beginners, or those with very limited Mandarin background. Beginner Class schedule: April 12, 2008 - June 21, 2008 2:15 pm to 3:45 pm. Tuition: $175 per person for CCC members and $150 for non-CCC members ALL CLASSES ARE FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. All transactions are final, no refunds, no exceptions. Instructor Xiangyan is a native of Beijing.After completion of her Master’s Degree in Education from Peking University, she then came to the U.S. and received Master’s Degree in Asia Pacific Studies from University of San Francisco. Xiangyan has been teaching Chinese for 9 year, her students learn grammar, speaking, reading and writing in her class. In addition to the language study, students also get chance to learn the traditional Chinese culture as well as the modern arts, music and literature.
