Event Details

Emotional Intelligence:  The Difference Nurses Make Every Day!

In this interactive and fun workshop we will explore some major competencies for Emotional Intelligence and consider their value in everyday nursing practice.  In pairs, small groups and full group we will combine brainstorming, fun activities, and discussion as we explore highlights from the field of Emotional Intelligence such as; self-awareness, social-awareness, self-management and relationship-management.  We will include opportunities to examine these topics with respect to individual professional growth as well as their importance in nurse practice settings.  This course meets NHBN requirements for Continuing Competence: 3 Contact Hours.

About the instructor: Beth Boynton is a nurse consultant specializing in training, coaching and consulting re: communication and conflict issues that impact nurses and healthcare systems. She is an adjunct faculty member with New England College’s graduate program in Healthcare Administration. She writes and publishes Confident Voices for Nurses, a free newsletter which focuses on creating positive workplaces. She writes the column, Confident Voices for the ANA-ME journal where she addresses conflict and communication issues and is currently writing a book which focuses on helping nurses improve communication and workplace dynamics.
