Event Details

Announcing the June edition of "Lunch with the General!" sponsored by Osprey Management.

This continuing series, hosted by the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Charlotte, features Marine Corps general officers speaking on Marine Corps-related topics of the day. The event also provides an opportunity for Marines -- active, retired and former -- and interested members of the public at large to network and share comraderie. The event is open to the general public, so we urge you to also invite interested friends and colleagues to join you for the presentation. Our guest speaker is Lieutenant General Richard F Natonski, Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies, and Operations,  who will be introduced by Ms Moira Quinn, COO of Charlotte Center City Partners.

Lieutenant General Richard F. Natonski is the Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies and Operations. In this position Gen Natonski is the Operations Deputy (OpsDep) for the Commandant on all Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) matters.  He serves as the focal point for the interface between the Marine Corps (as one of the four Services) and the joint and combined activities of the JCS and the unified Commanders-in-Chief, and various allied and other foreign Defense agencies. He is also responsible for coordinating the development and execution of service plans and policies related to the structure, deployment, and employment of Marine Corps forces in general.  LtGen Natonski began his 35-year Marine Corps career as an infantry officer. As such, he served in command and staff positions around the world, including commands at all levels up to and including Division commander – and was the Commanding Officer, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), as well. Staff positions he has held outside the infantry field include tours at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (San Diego, CA), Marine Barracks, 8th and I, Officers Candidate School (Quantico, VA), Headquarters Marine Corps (Washington DC), and Observer to the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization in the Middle East. He also served at the Pentagon on the Joint Staff (J-3) Operations Directorate and at the National Military Command Center (NMCC) as the Deputy Director for Operations. After assumption of command of 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade (MEB), he was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where the brigade took part in the Battle of An Nasiryah and the rescue of Army Pfc. Jessica Lynch. He then assumed command of the 1st Marine Division during which Gen Natonski participated in counter insurgency operations, the second battle of Fallujah and the Iraqi National Elections.

He assumed his current position in November 2006.

Because of the limited number of seats and
LtGen Natonski's diverse breadth of experience, we anticipate an early sell-out – so please register promptly! On-line registration closes June 2 with limited luncheon-day registration available. Simply click on the "PayPal Checkout" button, above; you'll then be given the option of selecting your preferred credit card for payment.

Check-in will be 11:00am-11:30am and the luncheon will begin at 11:30am.

Parking for the luncheon is free but if you prefer, valet parking is available for $5.00 at the entrance of the restaurant.

Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Charlotte

The Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Charlotte, a 501(c )(3) nonprofit, is comprised of individuals with an interest in supporting Marines and their families, and promoting the Marine Corps ethos, in general. To that end, they sponsor the Semper Fi Challenge Series consisting of the winter Marine Buddy Challenge, the spring Marine Ultimate Team Challenge and the summer Marine Mud Challenge. In more cerebral endeavors, the Council also periodically sponsors "Lunch with the General" events, featuring both active and retired Marine Corps general officers speaking on topics ranging from current Marine Corps issues to everyday leadership recommendations. During 2008, these luncheons were be held at Maggiano's Little Italy, South Park Mall, Charlotte NC; they are open to the public. Not only do the luncheons help get the Marine Corps' story out, but they provide invaluable opportunities for Marines and former Marines to gather, network, and swap "war stories," in an acknowledgement of the axiom, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine."

Membership in the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Charlotte is open to all Marines, former Marines, retired Marines, and any card-carrying member of their immediate families. Associate membership is available for any member of the public wishing to help support Council endeavors. More information is available at
