Zimbabwe Now: On the Frontlines of Change


Zimbabwe stands on the brink of dramatic change, yet little is heard about the critical work driving the country towards progress. 

Join us for an evening of presentations by members of the Zimbabwe Alliance, a donor collaborative promoting a healthy civil society in Zimbabwe.

You'll hear from activists and organizations with direct ties to the movements that are working on the ground to build a brighter future for Zimbabwe. You will have an opportunity to join the donor collaborative by investing at this critical juncture.

A cultural performance and light refreshments will set the scene for sharing the newest developments from the frontlines of change.

The Zimbabwe Alliance is a is a collaboration of like-minded partners working within a human rights framework to promote a vibrant civil society and ensure successful democratic transformation in Zimbabwe.

Our Mission

To promote a vibrant civil society and a successful democratic transformation in Zimbabwe.

Priority Focus Areas

Within the context of our overarching mission to strengthen civil society during this critical transition in Zimbabwe’s history, there are three priority focus areas for our work: 
  • Constitutional and Legislative Reform - to ensure that the on-going constitutional reform process produces a democratic constitution and necessary legislative reforms.
  • Free and Fair Elections - to secure the best possible conditions for free and fair elections in Zimbabwe in 2013. 
  • Public Accountability - to cultivate an engaged citizenry to hold government accountable to be transparent and responsive to the needs of the people.

Our History

The Zimbabwe Alliance was born from the desire to support the very crucial start of Zimbabwe’s transition to a democratic order.  It is a collaboration of like-minded partners working within a human rights framework to promote a successful democratic transformation in Zimbabwe.   Since our inception a few years ago, the Zimbabwe Alliance has provided $578,000 in funding through 21 grants to local organizations in Zimbabwe.  

Our Structure

The Zimbabwe Alliance pools resources from diverse funders to enhance impact and coordinate strategy. TrustAfrica a 501(c)(3) organization serves as both fiscal manager and grants administrator for the alliance. Donors and partners serve as members of the Steering Committee. The Current members of the Steering Committee are:
