Event Details


Every Zilker Relay is a 10 mile"ish" event, depending on the venue. Teams are comprised of 4 runners, each running approximately 2.5 mile"ish" out and back laps from one central festival/transition area. The team concept of the Zilker Relays is not unique, but the combination of a relay, festival home base, drinks and music, make this experience a favorite for runners of all calibers and ages. You don't have to train like a marathoner for this one. All you have to do is be willing to run/jog/walk/stroll 2.5 miles, enjoy live music and great food and get 3 (unforutnatly you need to create your teams of 4, not us!) of your siblings/kids/buddies/colleagues to come join you for this unique running experience.

Registration Fees:

$40 per team member until July 18th

$45 per team member between July 19th and August 15th

$50 per team member between August 16th and race night

$15 per team member until July 18th

$20 per team member between July 19th and August 15th

$25 per team member between August 16th and race night

If you're the first to register, create a great team name for your team.  You can register all four members if you're that generous or you lost a bet, or you can just let them know the awesome team name you create and they will be able to select that team when they register.

New this year...We have very limited space to allow you to bring your own team/company/backyard 10'X10' tent.  For $50 we will allot you your very own space within our great live music transisiton area.  Please select that option at check out an we will reach out with the details.  You will need to provide the required leg weights for the venue.


What is Zilker? 

Zilker Relays was founded in 2002 by Paul Perrone, owner of The Genesis Agency – an Austin based business that represents premium brands within the running, triathlon, cycling and outdoor industry. He gathered the help of a few friends with a desire to create something unique for the Austin running community.

 

"One summer evening I was running in Zilker Park while the sun was setting: I stopped and thought, what a great venue for a relay, party and concert," states Perrone. "I believe we have set the bar very high in Austin for what a participant receives for their entry fee." In addition to a great run, participants are treated to live music during the relay and beer garden after the event. We like to reinforce the "fun factor" that running can bring into a person's life. Running doesn't always have to be a solo effort and racing doesn't always have to be focused on individual achievement."

 

Given Zilker Park, home to the world famous Austin City Limits® Music Festival, allowed us to create such an amazing event in Austin for the past 10 years, we decided it would be best to keep the name and bring it to a city near you!


 

FAQs

 

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Please bring your ID, if you're old enough to have one but there is no age limit.  Anyone who can walk, jog, run, spring or find someone to push them in a stroller for one 2.5 mile leg of the relay is welcome.  We're making fun of the relay and we want as many people as possible to do it with us!  Also, if you would like to partake in any adult beverages you MUST have a valid ID.

 

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

We will let you know the parking arrangements at each venue or you can check the specific event page at www.facebook.com/zilkerrelays.com

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, Eventbrite will be able to help you with that.

 

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Not necessarily, if you have a smart phone, or even a phone that's close to smart, please have your confirmation email with the bar code available for our check scanners adn we can save a few tress together.  If you're phone is still getting up to speed on it's IQ, print your confirmation barcode and we'll make sure you're ready to run.

 

What is the refund policy?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds given the logistics and deadlines that go into putting on an event like this.  If something comes up that is more fun than Zilker, hard to believe but we guess it could happen, feel free to contact us or stop by packet pickup and at least get your stuff.

 

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

Unfortnately, given the timing chips, we have to make sure everyone is match up with their registration ticket.
