After the film, we will have some time for discussion about the topics presented in the film. We intend to have a follow-up screening of Zeitgeist Moving Forward, which will address in detail the "human nature" argument that often comes up after viewing Addendum.
Zeitgeist Addendum presents an understanding that our many social and environmental problems are interconnected and develop from a root cause. To ignore this cause while trying to repair the superficial aspects of the problems is insufficient. A more comprehensive understanding is necessary to create viable solutions that unite people around common goals (environmental integrity, wellness, access to resources, social harmony). Please come and engage in the discussion.
The term “Zeitgeist” can be defined as: The intellectual, moral, and cultural climate of an era. The term "movement" implies motion or change. The Zeitgeist Movement is thus a social aim that urges change in the intellectual, moral and cultural climate of the time. Specifically, to values and practices that would better serve the well-being of the whole of humanity, regardless of race, religion, title or other forms of contrived social status.
What TZM advocates, in short, can be phrased as: "The application of the methods of science to social concern", which for the most part is currently not done. Today established institutions (i.e. political, monetary, religious, etc.) are what comprise our values and thought processes, and when one looks at the trends of social & ecological well-being, it stands out that these methods do not create "problem resolution" or regard dynamic equilibrium with the "earth system" that sustains us all.
