Are you confused about health care and the Affordable Care Act? You are not alone. Whether your business is a small shop or a large company -or anywhere in between - the Affordable Care Act will influence how every business and organization operates in the coming years. Learn what you need to know about this important piece of legislation. This discussion will focus on the policy issues Colorado faces as the Affordable Care Act is further implemented in the state. The session will delve into five pressing policy issues:
- The effectiveness of the health insurance exchange in covering uninsured Coloradans
- The reality of Medicaid expansion and how providers plan to manage
- Choices for small employers in light of mandates, premiums and changing benefits
- Opportunities to make preventative health care and wellness education more prevalent
- The elusiveness of the cost curve – is it bendable?

Michelle Lueck will co-present with Eric Hirsberg. Michelle is CEO of Colorado Health Institute. Colorado Health Institute is a non-partisan policy research organization, located in Denver, Colorado. Its work and research agenda focuses on the policy issues that matter the most to all of Colorado. Yampa Valley Medical Center
Yampa Valley Medical Center (YVMC) is a regional medical center and is the only nonprofit, non-tax-supported hospital in Northwest Colorado. With 90 physicians representing 33 specialties, YVMC provides sophisticated medical services to more than 51,000 outpatients annually.
As a full-service, accredited 39-bed acute care hospital, YMVC provides emergency care, surgical services, and has a Family Birth Place with a Special Care Nursery. The emergency department is designated by the State of Colorado as a Level IV Trauma Center.
YVMC provides a range of outpatient services including joint replacement (hip, knee and shoulder), spine surgery, cancer care, pain management, physical therapy and occupational therapy. Physical therapy services are offered through the Justin Andrew DeSorrento Sports Medicine Center (SportsMed) with locations in Steamboat Springs, Walden and Hayden.
