Yu-Ai Kai Senior Center is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year culminating with a gala event to be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Dolce Hayes Mansion in San Jose.   Join us for a gala evening of Celebration & Community highlighted by guest speaker, the Honorable Norman Y. Mineta, and a koto performance by June Kuramoto and Kimo Cornwell of Hiroshima and a special performance by San Jose Taiko

Emceed by Robert Handa, KNTV NBC Bay Area Reporter and former KTVU San Jose Bureau Reporter and Mike Inouye, KNTV NBC Bay Area Traffic Anchor, the event program includes a celebration of Yu-Ai Kai memories, special recognition of significant supporters and volunteers, Live and Silent Auctions and more!

Honorees include Midori Kai and YJA (Young Japanese Adults) as recipients of the Akira Kamiya Spirit of Yu-Ai Award; Dale Sasaki as recipient of the Kay Shimizu Memorial Award, and JAMsj (Japanese American Museum San Jose) as recipient of the Yu-Ai Kai Cultural Award.

Join Yu-Ai Kai; Presenting Benefactors, Ray and Lucy Matsumoto; and Major Sponsors, The Hugh Stuart Charitable Trust, and Brian & Sachi Iwashita for an eventful evening of celebration and community.

Seating is limited to 500 for this fundraising event with all proceeds benefiting Yu-Ai Kai Community Senior Center.


Event Schedule:

5:30 pm - Registration, Reception, and Silent Auction.

6:00 pm - San Jose Taiko performance and Kagami Wari ceremony.

6:45 pm - Dinner, June Kuramoto & Kimo Cornwell performance, and Program.


For tax purposes, we have estimated the fair market value of the event to be $100 per person.  Tax ID #94-2427398.

What is the dress attire for the event?

Semi-formal.

 

Is there priority seating for this event?

Best available seating will be assigned based upon completion of order placement and payment.

 

If I purchased more than one ticket or a table of 10, do I need to include a phone number and/or an email address for each of my guest?

The ticket purchasing process requires a phone number and email address for each attendee, but you can use one contact phone number and email address for some or all of your guests.

 

What if I don't have a complete (or confirmed) guest list at the time of placing an order?

You may temporary enter either a potential attendee or your name more than once to complete your order.  All guest names are included in the event program and is also used to check-in guests at Registration.  No tickets are issued for this event.  Please email any attendee / guest changes to events@yuaikai.org so that our guest list is updated.

Yu-Ai Kai Japanese American Community Senior Service, a nonprofit senior center located in historic Japantown San Jose, is committed to serving seniors with an array of activities, programs, and services.

We offer a well-balanced senior day care program, a nutritious lunch service, social services, and a variety of classes, activities and trips for seniors, designed around our Healthy Aging Initiative.

Serving our seniors with Friendship & Love since 1974,  Yu-Ai Kai currently serves 3,000+ seniors annuallyWhile our roots are in Japanese / Japanese American culture and tradition, the programs and services are open to any senior in our community.


Yu-Ai Kai is celebrating 40 years of service in 2014.  Come join us at the many events planned throughout the year.
