Description

The Bodleian Libraries will be hosting a YourFry hackathon in their new Weston Library, bringing together students, researchers from all disciplines, and members of the public with an interest in the intersection between technology and literature.

The theme for the event is Many Faces, Many Selves: Exploring the self in the digital era. YourFry, developed by Penguin Random House to celebrate the publication of Stephen Fry's new memoir More Fool Me, seeks to explore how the same words, written or spoken, resonate differently across the globe. Participants are encouraged to explore Stephen Fry's work in the context of the Bodleian and its publicly available digital content, and with the academic interests in the University more generally, through technology of any sort, and submit an entry around a particular theme or category. More information can be found at www.yourfry.com.

We're looking for all kinds of people to participate; those with an interest in data visualisation, film, performance, written and spoken word, web applications and programming, data/text mining, art and more are welcome. You don't have be an expert to join, but you do need to be enthusiastic and prepared to help develop a project for submission.

Stephen Fry is currently the Cameron Mackintosh Visiting Professor of Contemporary Theatre at St Catherine's College, Oxford.

The hackathon will take place during the day (10am-5pm), with a reception to follow at 5pm.
