The SACC New York Young Professionals and Skanska USA invite you to an exclusive site visit to the Brooklyn Navy Yard on November 6, where Skanska USA is building the modular components for a 32-story high-rise residential tower, the tallest building in the United States utilizing modular construction.
Rising tall adjacent to the recently opened Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets NBA team, the B2 building is scheduled to be completed in 2014 and will be the first residential tower that is part of the Atlantic Yards Development in Brooklyn. The new high-rise will have 363 units, 50 percent of which will be low, moderate and middle-income homes, and the remaining 50 percent at market rate. With this project, Skanska is continuing their leadership in prefabricating building components, a pioneering development that will help advance efficient, safe and sustainable off-site construction.
Join us on November 6 for a 1,5 h tour around the fabrication facility with Skanska representatives, and learn more about how to build a 348,000 square-foot tower resulting in 70 to 90 percent less waste than traditional construction. After the tour, participants will team up with Young Professionals from Skanska at a nearby restaurant where drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
Please make sure to wear good shoes for the tour. Vests, hard hats, and safety glasses will be provided by Skanska.
