Explanation of Tickets :
Membership Fee: $100 to cover badges and administrative costs ( Calendar Annual Fee )
There are 2 ways that families can participate:
- Parent and Child - Each week, a parent will work with the child on the project rather than a facilitator. The cost of this program will include the use of equipment and materials. $30 per session per child ( adult is free with paying child )
- Facilitated Program - A child can be dropped off or work with a parent in a workshop type of program facilitated by Exploratory Making and Tinkering experts. $60 per session / per child ( prepaid 10 session - $55/session ) Sibling Discount - 10%
Dates: Saturdays 3pm to 5pm
10 week session ( first session is an abbreviated one )
Skills Phase: Each Skill will be accompanied by an Creative Invitation for children to use as inspiration.
March 2 - wood working - electric drill, electric saws, hammers, names, screws etc.
March 16 - Circuits - batteries, motors, squishy circuits - beginner robots
March 23 - Clay, Wire, Soldering, Stop Motion
March 30 - Needles - Felting, Sewing, E-textiles ( LED lights in fabric )
April 6 - Paper - Origami, popups, paper - circuits ( LED lights in paper )
Original Child Project Phase : Children will learn how to use the Design Thinking process to design and build a project of their own choice.
April 13 - Design Thinking - Brainstorm, prototype and Share
April 20 - Design Thinking - Revise, Plan
April 27 - Child’s Project Build
May 4 - Child’s Project Build
May 11 - Child’s Project Build
May 18 and May 19 - Maker Faire San Mateo ( optional - participants must make own travel arrangements )
Location : Mar Vista - Starting at The Exploratory Clubhouse, then moving to new space.
