Yoruba Egungun Tradition Workshop

The Egungun society of priests and their practices is an important aspect of Yoruba traditional society and culture. Throughout the Orisa tradition in the Diaspora, many aspects of ancestral veneration have remained but there is still much to be explored in understanding traditional ancestral veneration.
In this workshop we will discuss the importance and function of the Egungun tradition. This first of two workshops, held on October 28 at 1 pm, will include the following:
*The role of egungun and the
*Egun vs. egungun
*Egun vs. egbe
*Egungun on earth and egungun in heaven
*Role of egungun priesthood
*Hierarchy of egungun society
The second workshop (date TBD) will include the following:
*Understanding egungun's messages
*Odus and stories about egungun
*Egungun plants and herbs
*Setting up an egungun shrine
*Giving offerings to egungun
Each workshop costs $40 individually; register for both and pay $70 (a $10 discount).
