Event Details

Join Lightbox for a physical, mental and spiritual journey as you travel around the world and experience yoga through art, imagery and music. We enlisted yoga and medical practitioners to activate Lightbox’s floor-to-ceiling digital walls to create an immersive, multi-sensory yoga experience like no other.  

Classes are 1-hour and open to all levels. Pay-what-you-can with a suggested donation of $15. Special thanks to our partners One Medical Group, lululemon and Vita Coco.

Instructors: 

Dr. Ellen Vora transports you from an ashram in India, to the Himalayas, to the jungles of Costa Rica and the beaches of Hawaii. Dr. Vora, MD, is an NYC psychiatrist at One Medical Group who combines integrative and holistic medicine with yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, mindfulness meditation, nutrition and conventional psychotherapy. Dr. Vora received her B.A. from Yale University. She attended Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons for medical school. She did a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship in neuroscience and neuroimaging. She studied Medical Acupuncture at the Helms Medical Institute, based in Berkeley.  She also did an auricular acupuncture training at Lincoln Hospital in Bronxand German Auricular Acupuncture training at the Vital Principles Institute.  Dr. Vora has been practicing yoga for over 10 years, and she completed her yoga teacher training at the Radiantly Alive Yoga School in Bali. Dr. Vora is a board-certified Psychiatrist, licensed Medical Acupuncturist, Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine and Yoga Alliance 200-hour RYT certified yoga teacher.She has also studied Ayurveda, nutrition and meditation.

Jennifer Drapkin, M.S., is a doctoral student at Teachers College, Columbia University, earning her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. After a 12-year career as a journalist and yoga instructor, Jennifer returned to school to study the connection between mind, body, and spirit. She is currently a director of Columbia’s Spirituality Mind Body Institute and the managing editor of Spirituality in Clinical Practice, a scientific journal published by the American Psychological Association. Her research investigates lovingkindness meditation as a form of therapy for inmates in prison. Jennifer received her B.A. in psychology from Yale University, her M.S. in journalism from Columbia School of Journalism, and her yoga instructor certification from Laughing Lotus College of Yoga in NYC. As writer and editor, Jennifer has been published extensively in Psychology Today, The Smithsonian, The Village Voice, and Mental_floss Magazine. As a yoga instructor, she has taught at Laughing Lotus, the Urban Yoga Foundation, and New York City public schools, specializing in kindergarten through fifth grade. Jennifer hopes that by building better inner worlds, we can build better outer worlds, too.
