Her follow-up album "I'm Alright" exploded with back-to-back-to-back chart-toppers inlcuding "Bye Bye" which was named ASCAP's Song of the Year, "I'm Alright and "Stand Beside Me." She quickly became a star and was named the Academy of Country Music's Top New Female Vocalist and received the CMA Horizon Award. Her next album "Burn" entered the chart at number one, went platinum and earned two Grammy nominations. Hits like "Lesson in Leavin'," "Because You Love Me," "Bring on the Rain" and "My Give a Damn's Busted" cemented her reputation as one of country music's most loved and enduring hit-makers.
All proceeds from this benefit concert will go directly toward preventing summer learning loss across the First Coast by providing scholarships for kids to attend Y summer camps. Lazy summers are one of the most significant, yet least acknowledged, causes of underachievement in our schools. Research shows summer learning loss has a tremendous impact on students’ success, including high school completion, post-secondary education and workforce preparedness. Low-income children lose as much as two grade levels in reading and math.
That’s why YMCA summer camps are so important. Thanks to the generosity of others, we are able to provide all kids with equal exposure to enrichment activities that they might otherwise not have, regardless of their ability to pay. Children also get to explore the outdoors, build self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills and make lasting friendships and memories. With your help, we can ensure that every child is safe, healthy and engaged in learning all summer.
