- Pubs of York: Yesterday and Today Walking Tour (Friday, June 14 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.)
Join us as we take a trip back in time to 1741 when the Golden Plough Tavern played a significant role as York’s “hotel,” restaurant and source of news. Then, stroll through downtown York visiting the city’s significant watering holes through history and into the present day! We’ll stop at various downtown locations to learn about York’s brewing history, how the craft has changed over time, and how this traditional craft is alive and thriving in downtown York.
- Homebrew Workshops: Techniques of Yesterday and Today (Saturday, March 30; Saturday, April 20; Tuesday, May 14)
Join us as we take a trip back in time to 1741 when the Golden Plough Tavern played a significant role as York’s “hotel,” restaurant and source of news.
Workshop 1 - We'll discuss & practice brewing techniques of yesterday & today! If you've ever wondered how colonial brewing techniques differed from the techniques of today, this workshop will answer your questions! This workshop includes a light lunch and beverages. Where: Historical Society Museum at 250 East Market Street. When: Saturday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Workshop 2 - We will bottle our brews and make/bake bread with the grain we harvest from our first Workshop in our Colonial Bake Oven! Like butter with your bread? We'll also churn our own butter! This workshop includes the bread tasting, cheese, and beverages. Where: Golden Plough Tavern When: Saturday, April 20, from Noon to 3 p.m.
Workshop 3 - Bring a friend to enjoy the fruits of your labor! It's time to drink our homebrews, evaluate and discuss the techniques used! Where: Liquid Hero When: Tuesday, May 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
