Join Eco-Arts in the construction of this year’s lantern: a segmented snake made of natural materials. This lantern-making workshop will be led by artist Jacquie Rolston, whose lanterns can be seen at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden’s lantern festival. In this session we will craft a segment of the snake using lunaria (from the “money plant”).
The evening will be introduced by Susan Ma, Education Director for the garden with some information about Lunar New Year and the Year of the Snake.
After Jacquie introduces the lantern-making we will work on the lantern "quilting bee" style, while poets, storytellers and readers share words about snakes with us.
As always there will be some time for you to share your events and announcements. Bring along brochures or posters if you wish.
This evening is the first in a series of workshops and events preparing for and celebrating Year of the Snake. Just go to cacv.ca and search "snake" to find out about what else is up.
