Ok, this is a fun one to explain...
Keith Raimondi at Lemon Hill and Steve Wildy at Alla Spina decided to take a unique approach to making a collaborative cocktail, and Yards was generous enough to offer a recently emptied bourbon beer barrel as inspiration. Under the guidance of local cocktail legend Al Sotack of the Franklin Mortgage and Investment Company, they decided to age a Vieux Carre (rye/cognac/sweet vermouth/bendectine) for 30 days in the barrel, after which Yards took it back to age their Tavern Spruce in it for three months! Both projects turned out phenomenally, and what better way to taste the spoils of this collaboration than dinner at both restaurants on the same night, paired alongside the cocktail and the beer.
Dinner starts at 6:30pm at Lemon Hill for a taste of the classic Vieux Carre followed by the barrel-aged version and hors d'oeuvres. Then our good friends at Uber will taxi all guests to Alla Spina for a seated, two-course dinner and dessert, paired alongside the classic Tavern Spruce and the cocktail-barrel-aged version, "Old Square Spruce." We'll finish the night at Alla Spina with dessert and another taste of the barreled cocktail. Tax, gratuity, and $20 Uber discount are included.
Don't miss this chance to taste two truly unique beverages and to spend the evening with Keith, Steve, Al, and the Yards crew as we take you on a booze-fueled mini tour of Fairmount!
