Writing the Action Movie

Presented in entertaining segments and illustrated by recent HIT movies, youll come to understand the secrets, tricks, devices and storylines that will help you write YOUR movies, without having to waste months  even years  spinning your creative wheels.

When you understand the rules of your particular genre, you are freed up to quickly and ORIGINALLY to write your story with full control to go crazy and creative, in your OWN journey to get there.

This class will completely change the way you write! Literally hundreds of students who have come to our workshops all over Los Angeles and online continue to tell us one thing…“What you teach is better than what I learned in film school!

Our classes are like road maps for when you are lost in the creative forest. We point out the amazing roads that others have built in telling a story in a particular genre. YOU decide which of those roads you want to take  and what amazingly original things you want to show your audience along the way.

Understanding the rules of a genre free you up from worrying about WHERE to go and let you put all of the cool, unique stuff that only you have created in your head right there on the screen, so the audience can enjoy it, too. We want to make you feel in complete control of your storytelling abilities.

We will give you the confidence to know when you want to use the rules and when you want to break them. Imagine the feeling of knowing you are on the right track.

In this three hour seminar youll get:

Examples of great action from movies like IRON MAN, 300, DARK KNIGHT RISING, FAST & FURIOUS, TRAINING DAY, CASINO ROYALE, INGLORIOUS BASTERDS and other current films to illustrate our tools.

Youll get.

A Keynote featuring all the rules you need, with examples.

The  action storyline plot beats of an action movie you must hit.

The specific tools and tricks to keep an audience on the edge of their seat.

How to create characters that connect with an audience in all three different action storylines.

How to avoid the most common mistakes we see in PROFESSIONAL screenplays.

Worksheets for everything we teach
