About Marcelo Cesena
Highly acclaimed in the world of classical music, Marcelo Cesena has performed as a solo and collaborative artist in prestigious concert halls throughout Brazil, Italy, Bosnia, France and the United States. He is a two-time winner of the Young Soloists Competition of the Symphonic Orchestra of the State of São Paulo; as First Place winner at the 1st Chamber Music Competition of the Faculdade Santa Marcelina; as First Place and Best Bach performance at the 6th Piano Competition of Aracatuba City; and as Winner and Firestone Soloist at the Young Soloists Competition of the 10th Music Festival of Londrina.
Winner of the 2013 and 2009 Brazilian International Press Award for “The best Brazilian musician living in America”, and praised for his “smashingly perfect technique” (Folha de Londrina) and “impressive musical interpretation” (Estado de São Paulo), Brazilian concert pianist, Marcelo Cesena has captivated audiences all over the world with his unique artistry and emotional interpretations of life through music. His talents have garnered praise from fellow musicians: Aylton Escobar, Brazilian conductor and composer, has called Cesena a “luminous talent with a gift of noble character that appeals to the audience.” Alexander Korsantia, winner of the Rubenstein Competition has said, “His playing is extremely bright, open-minded and colorful.”
Mr. Cesena trained at the Conservatorio musical de Santana, Brazil, Faculdade Santa Marcelina and the Faculdade Mozarteum in São Paolo, Brazil; receiving his Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from Arizona State University where he was awarded a Regents Scholarship; and receiving his film scoring education at UCLA in their Film, Television, and Digital Entertainment Media Program.
In addition to his recording career, having released several CD’s of original material, Mr. Cesena has scored a number of independent films in the United States. Excited by the film making process, he moved into Production by forming his production company Lakestar Productions in 2010 with his partner Ms. Susan Watkins.
Currently living in Los Angeles, Mr. Cesena is represented by the prestigious booking agency, CHL Artists, and continues to perform solo concerts around the world.
