W.A.V.E., Wounded American Veterans Event, is an all-volunteer initiative organized by Northwest Florida Yacht Clubs, to honor our nation's disabled and war combat wounded veterans.
Originated by Navy Yacht Club Pensacola, and co-hosted by Pensacola Yacht Club, Pensacola Beach Yacht Club, Ft. Walton Yacht Club, Eglin Yacht Club, and Point Yacht Club, W.A.V.E. 2012 was the first of what has become an annual event highlighted by a "Day on the Bay." With the rich military history and tradition in Pensacola, W.A.V.E. 2014 will include a tribute to Naval Air Station Pensacola's Centennial Celebration.
“A Day on the Bay” features a ride on private sail or power boats for wounded veterans and an adult guest of their choice. Activities include an opening ceremony with color guard, special keynote speaker, live entertainment, and a complimentary lunch and beverages. Veterans are also presented with a commemorative visor.
