WoTRS Cultural Events Tour of Glenstone
Friday, October 18 at 9:45 AM
Our exciting new year of Cultural Events begins with a visit to Glenstone (www.glenstone.org) in Potomac to view the private art collection of Michael P. and Emily Rales. Mr. Rales is considered one of the top art collectors in the world. The collection includes outside sculptures by Richard Serra and Tony Smith, and an indoor collection that includes works by Rothko, de Kooning, Pollock and Giacometti. The director of the National Gallery of Art has called the Rales collection “one of the world’s most important” of the post WWII era. Plans are moving ahead to build a second building to be completed in 2016 that will rival the National Gallery East Wing and allow for more of the collection to be seen.
We will have a guided tour of the collection. Lunch will follow at a local restaurant (TBA).
When signing up on Eventbrite, look to see who else will be attending so that you can set up carpools to Glenstone.
Please RSVP here so we may arrange enough seating with the restaurant.
