World Music & Dance Festival 2013: Javanese Music & Dance

Music and dance play essential roles in Javanese life, admired and studied throughout the world. The CalArts Javanese gamelan Kyai Doro Dasih (Venerable Dream Come True) presents an evening of classical court and modern Javanese music and dance rarely performed in the United States. Directed by Djoko Walujo Wimboprasetyo, and Nanik Wenten, Dance Director, with special guest Javanese dancer/choreographer Baghawan Ciptoning.
What Visitors to the Wild Beast Should Know:
Open lawn seating in the S. Mark Taper Foundation Courtyard: Bench seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Family-friendly: The environment and content of The World Music Fesitval is safe and appropriate for family enjoyment.
Picnics are welcome: The lawn of The Wild Beast Music Pavilion is a perfect place for a picnic. Come an hour early and grab that prime spot on the lawn. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Please leave the alcohol at home. Open containers are not allowed on the CalArts campus. Dress warmly: Each concert lasts approximately 90 minutes and the evening air may get chilly.
