Renowned for its rich traditions, Balinese culture comprises an astonishing array of vibrant art forms and amazing diversity of musical ensemble and dance genres. For the 2013 World Music & Dance Festival, Gamelan Burat Wangi (Fragrant Offering) presents A Night on the Island of a Thousand Temples, a spectacle of traditional and contemporary music and dance creations, enhanced by color and sound.
Directed by I Nyoman Wenten, and Nanik Wenten, Dance Director.
What Visitors to the Wild Beast Should Know:
Open lawn seating in the S. Mark Taper Foundation Courtyard: Bench seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Family-friendly: The environment and content of The World Music Fesitval is safe and appropriate for family enjoyment.
Picnics are welcome: The lawn of The Wild Beast Music Pavilion is a perfect place for a picnic. Come an hour early and grab that prime spot on the lawn. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Please leave the alcohol at home. Open containers are not allowed on the CalArts campus. Dress warmly: Each concert lasts approximately 90 minutes and the evening air may get chilly.
