Event Details

2014 World IA Day will take place in 23 cities, 12 countries, 6 continents.

World IA Day is about bringing the information architecture community together. We're fostering links within Southern California and on a global scale. We're sharing information, ideas, and research. And we're doing it through unconventional, exciting, and engaging IA events this February.

On February 15, 2014 you can learn from world-class IA minds, network with your peers, showcase new ideas, and attend events tailored specifically to your community. We hope you'll join us!

REFRAME LA.

Get ready to take on some of the major problems facing Los Angeles and all of Southern California. Traffic, environmental concerns and social services subject matter experts will join us to clarify the real issues facing our community while your task-at-hand will be to brainstorm and sketch potential solutions using the toolkit of information architecture.

This high-energy, one-day workshop is a great way to learn through doing. Those new to the field and seasoned professionals will work hand-in-hand to share, iterate and sketch inspiring solutions. Facilitators will guide each table and offer support and encouragement to teams. At the end of the day we will reconvene to highlight amazing ideas that make the world a better place using Information Architecture.

It’s informal, educational and mostly – FUN!

Organizer

The Information Architecture Institute. Learn more about IAI at http://iainstitute.org

The Information Architecture Institute is a professional organization, operated by a dedicated, multi-national group of people who are dedicated to promoting the concept, craft and community of information architecture.

We live in exciting times. As the information age rolls forward, our businesses, markets and societies are being transformed into adaptive, connected networks. The Internet of today only hints at the ubiquitous communication infrastructure of tomorrow. The construction of this brave new world requires a new kind of architecture, focused on digital structures of information and software rather than physical structures of bricks and mortar. As we spend more time working and playing in these shared information spaces, people will need and demand better search, navigation and collaboration systems.

Volunteering our own resources, we aspire to collaborate within our community and build bridges to related disciplines and organizations. We invite you to join us in advancing the state of information architecture through research, education, advocacy and community service.
