WORKSHOP with Newberry College's Mandy Butler

San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Phony Isn’t Funny
Worried you have to give up the funny to get the substance? Want to develop compelling relationships onstage, but are afraid things will get “too dramatic?” Do you think that performing FANTASTIC and connected longform is out of your reach? This workshop is for you! In grounding your work and focusing on your scene partners, you will discover that there is nothing funnier than human beings simply relating and reacting to each other.
Mandy Butler has been an active improviser in Nashville, Richmond, Atlanta, and Greenville. She leads the improv program at Newberry College, where she is an Assistant Professor of Speech & Theatre. She holds a BA in Theatre Performance from Georgia College & State University and an MFA in Theatre Pedagogy from Virginia Commonwealth University.
