Workshop: Preventing Housing Discrimination and CDC Certification
Community Development practitioners must continue the fight for fair, affordable housing. One critical issue that must be addressed is discrimination. This workshop will expand on the topic of housing discrimination, covering the rights and responsibilities of both home seekers and housing providers. Focus points will include: protections under the law, how to detect discrimination, common pitfalls, and what to do if issues of discrimination arise.
In on-going efforts to support and enhance CDCs and other nonprofits, FLACDC has developed a certification program that sets operational standards for the Community and Economic Development (CED) industry in Florida. As part of the internal review, a technical assistance plan is created and application summary prepared. These documents are submitted to the independent Certification Advisory Council (CAC) for review. Join us as we learn more about the CDC certificate processes and learn how to better protect against housing discrimination.
