Workshop: Basics of Innovation Capital
Monday, July 16, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (PDT)
San Jose, CA
PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP: BASICS OF INNOVATION CAPITAL
Why is funding innovation different than just writing lots of small checks?
How is innovation capital (including venture/angel funding) structured differently from other forms of capital?
What are the lessons of the Silicon Valley venture capital industry, and can they be translated to other markets?
This four-hour workshop takes place from 9 am to 1 pm before the start of the inaugural Global Innovation Summit on Monday, July 16.
Participants will review the entire life cycle of the innovation capital continuum, from R&D to proof-of-concept, commercialization, seed/angel funding, venture capital, and other forms. We will provide practical tools for attendees to frame, develop, and implement these capital structures in new markets.
Instructors include: Greg Horowitt (T2 Venture Capital), Bruce Jenett (DLA Piper), and several other speakers with expertise in the field.
