Woodworking Intensive: Cabinetry APRIL/MAY
Monday, April 23, 2012 at 7:30 PM - Monday, May 28, 2012 at 9:30 PM (EDT)
Somerville, United States
In this class, students will learn the basics of how to fabricate professional, long-lasting wood cabinets, working together to create a series of cabinets for the shop areas at Artisan's Asylum. Students will fabricate cabinetry carcasses, cabinet doors, shelves and shelf mounts over the course of the session, and the final product will be in active use by the rest of Artisan's Asylum for years to come.
By the end of the session, students will learn how to use almost every tool in the woodshop at an intermediate level. This includes the use of the table saw, miter saw, router and router table, planer, jointer, hand drill, nail gun and more.
Basic woodshop skills a plus, but not required.
Materials will be provided by Artisan's Asylum.
Prior to attending the North Bennett St School for carpentry Peter Montague worked at Joe VanBenton Furniture Makers in Brookline as the chief finisher. After attending N.B.S.S. and spending some "off the grid" time in New York State he studied timber framing in northern Maine. The last ten years have been spent working for a local finish carpentry firm where he was able to work in some of the area's most beautiful homes. He is now running his own company focusing on restoration. He dabbles in stained and leaded glass, custom doors, landscape structures, furniture and painting.
