Woodworking 101 is a four-week series class designed to teach the basics of woodworking. We will cover shop safety, stock prep, and tool use, focusing on the jointer, planer, and chop saw.
Students will use preselected reclaimed, old-growth lumber from the Rebuilding Exchange warehouse to build a tabletop. This project teaches one of the fundamental projects in woodworking: the glue-up. Your tabletop could also be a bench top, shelving, countertop, work surface, or any panel no larger than 10sf in total. Stack-It brackets from RX Made will be available for purchase for bench or shelf conversions, and different base and support options will be covered. Students can also take Woodworking 102 in which you build a table bottom from reclaimed lumber.
(Please note final workshop is the day after Christmas Dec. 26 and will go on as scheduled.)
No prior shop experience is necessary.
$170 instruction + $75 materials fee = $245
